In 1980, God spoke to Chris Jordan, who was living with his wife, Sherron Jordan, and their children in New Jersey. During that particular encounter, God directed him to move his family to the southern United States to minister full time. Upon hearing the message God gave to Chris, Sherron was troubled because she was hesitant to come to the south and did not want to leave her family and friends. However, over time, she understood this was truly God's plan. Chris and Sherron obeyed and began their lives again, in a place called Rocky Mount, NC.

The Jordan family came to worship at Manna Fellowship which was later renamed Grace Covenant Church. Both Chris and Sherron took on active roles in various aspects in the ministry which included Chris' service as Assistant Pastor. Both came to love and appreciate their membership there, enjoying many meaningful connections while serving alongside the people of God.

In 1988, God revealed more of His plan for Chris and Sherron's purpose in Rocky Mount, NC....and it required a greater level of leadership. God directed them to start Unity of Faith Family Worship Center. The vision God placed in their hearts was one of a unified body of believers joined together by God-given purpose, focused on individual relationships with God and service to others, and connected by hearts to fulfill God's will. Chris and Sherron believed such a body of people could be conduits of God's glory in their homes, on their jobs, and in their communities to walk and live as Jesus did on earth.

It is a vision requiring crazy faith and amazing courage, cultivated through many experiences where God has shown and continues to show Himself strong through signs, wonders, grace, mercy and faithfulness. What a mighty God we serve!

God has been faithful to connect our pastors with legendary men and women who have poured into their lives, which has, in turn, blessed our ministry abundantly.  We benefit from the tutelage and leadership of so many which include Pastor Herb Green of Newark Gospel Tabernacle, Bishop Valeriano Melendez, Jr. of Ahoskie Soul Saving Station, and Bishop Nathaniel and Pastor Valerie Holcomb of Killeen, Texas. Unity of Faith is a member church of Covenant Connections International, led by Pastor Valerie Holcomb. We are so thankful to God for everyone who has played and continues to play a role in the life of this vision.

The beautiful adventure from which Unity of Faith was birthed continues today. In 2022, God directed Pastor Chris to another life-changing assignment, promoting him from this earth to heaven where he joins so many amazing gifts including Pastor Green, Bishop Melendez, and Bishop Holcomb. While he is on assignment in the presence of Our Father, we are wisely and lovingly led by Pastor Sherron. We know Pastor Chris is rooting us on just as he promised he would.

God's greatness is unmatched and He continues to lead us through the challenges of our new normal as we remain committed to the purpose and plan He has for this vision.
